My Version of Gardening

While my track record for keeping plants alive is nothing to brag home about, I've found a way to create a flower pot that will outlast any bouquet of flowers! Here's my version of the Flower Pot card....Aren't those flowers so pretty? They're the Big Shot variety - Flower Layers Originals dies to be exact. And the center flower is from another favorite - Daisies #2, topped off with a half pearl from the Pretties kit. Here's how it looks with the card out.
I haven't stamped the sentiment, but this is gonna be a Flower Pot for my Mom for Mom's day next week ;) I plan to make more of these in a variety of florals, but this is the very first one I made. My goal was to submit it to Stampin'Up!'s Demonstrator contest to create something using any of the Orange cardstocks, but alas, time escaped me, so here it is for your viewing pleasure. I created the terra cotta looking pot by running it thru the Texturz plate and then brayering it with the Craft Vanilla to give it that aged look. I also used the Basic Jumbo Grommet from the Occasions Mini catalog to accent my Chocolate Chip double stitched ribbon. The leaves are now my favorite new texturizing accent - using the scallop oval and running it thru the crimper at a diagonal. I did 2 leaves per flower and it fills in my flower pot with just the right amount of greenery (at least in my humble opinion). Believe it or not, the card FITS into a regular envelope for the 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card! Cool huh! I have to give credit where credit is due, and I was inspired by Sharon Field's card and she also referred to Stephanie Luman's site for the tutorial for the card. So now, you're all set if you want to try and make your own! Aren't blogs cool? I love how it's such a great community that shares! Enjoy!

Awesome! I'll have try the leaves using the crimper. Too bad I don't have the flower die to go with it. Thanks for the inspiration.

Okay, I love the leaves. I'm a leaf girl and I was about to PM you about the details. I think you folded the scallop in half and then ran it through the crimper, right?

This is the best flower pot! Great job
