Raspberry Suite Challenge 8

Morning and Happy Friday! I love doing Dawn McVey's Raspberry Challenges, so when I saw that this week's challenge had been posted, well, I had to create a card! Besides the sailboats I've posted this week, I've also been obsessed with owls and birds, so today's card is another take on my owl collection on a branch. Here it is:The colors I used are Rose Red, Kraft, Very Vanilla, and Chocolate Chip. The pretty background paper is from the Bella Bleu Designer Series Paper. Hope you like it! In Color Sneak Peek...

Do you want to see what the new In Colors are for the upcoming 2009-2010 Stampin'Up! catalog? They are super yummy...sadly, I haven't gotten my order yet, so I don't have any live samples for you, but hopefully they will come in soon. These new In Colors and the New Catalog will be available for purchase on July 1st!I can't wait to see these colors in person!

Yet another Sailboat for Father's Day

So, today, my Sailboat fascination continues. I'm having so much fun making sailboat cards - the Mojo card from yesterday's post and for Kristina's Challenge last week that I thought I'd make another one - slightly different layout, but with most of the same components. This time, I went with a Baja Breeze/Kiwi Kiss/Pacific Point/Tangerine Tango combination (lots of In Colors!), with a hint of Basic Gray. If you've noticed on my posts from the last few weeks, I have been going to town with my sponge daubers! I really do love those things and have just ordered some more! I used it to create my ocean and I love the effect it gives - sort of an effervescent feel that captures the "wave" sensation. At least, I think so! ;) The background on the Baja Breeze cardstock is the Small Dots Texturz embossing plate, and the sail on the boat is from my small scraps of Parisian Breeze Designer Series Paper.

Just like yesterday's card, I tied some of rope twine (from the Winter Mini catalog) around the striped grosgrain ribbon and added the jumbo grommet to make my "guyish" ribbon treatment. I think it's a fun nautical sort of look :)

A little Father's Day Mojo

I've had Father's Day cards on the brain, and my ideas right now seem to be focused on Golf and Sailboats, so I continued that with My Mojo Monday Sketch 89 card. I did change it up a little...I used a striped Sail today and a less rounded bottom of the boat (thanks to the Small Oval punch)!I really loved this past year's In Colors, so I thought I'd pay some tribute to the Baja Breeze and Riding Hood Red from the awesome Sweet Slumber DSP. Here's a picture of the Mojo Sketch this week so you can see the elements I had to work with - I stayed pretty true to form. Just added the ribbon and jumbo grommet, which - it turns out - is a really fun embellishment to use!I also had fun incorporating some texture from the Textured Very Vanilla cardstock I used for the sentiment as well as the circle background for the sailboat. Here's a closer look - the textured cardstock gives the stamped "Happy Father's Day" sentiment that worn out sort of look, which I like:
This is such a fun and summer-y color combo...even though the colors are on the bright side, I think it's sufficiently masculine, don't you think? I'd love to get your feedback. In the meantime, here's the recipe:
