Raspberry Suite Challenge #5

Hello all, I know it's late on Friday night, but I couldn't resist doing a card for Dawn's Raspberry Suite Challenge. Her color palette intrigued me because its not one I've used so far. Here's the card I came up with:Can you tell I'm enamored with the Flower Layers Big Shot die? I've had a lot of fun and good use of that die! Here's the recipe:

*Baroque Motifs and All Holidays stamp sets
*Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette cardstock and classic Inc pads
*Whisper White and Basic Gray cardstock
*Top Note die, Flower Layers die, Large Polka Dots Texturz plate
*Scallop square and 1 1/4" square punches, slot punch,
*Basic gray taffeta ribbon and regal rose grosgrain ribbon

Freebie Friday 18 - Purse Madness!

Hi all - TGIF! I don't know if you've noticed, but I've been on quite a purse kick this past week! Not just with the purse card holder I posted last night, but I've also made purses in different sizes. Today's giveaway will be a purse gift card holder! Wanna see? What do you think? This purse measures 3" x 6" and fits a gift card perfectly. I used the Pink Flamingo DSP and love that the color combo has that summery feel to it. Here's a sample picture of the inside (I say "sample" because this is a photo of the inside of another purse). As a matter of fact, I made a bunch of these purses for a co-worker of mine who requested these to give out to the Moms for his golf club's Mother's Day gift card presents. Isn't that fun? Love me the Urban Purse!

Thanks to Liz Miller, I was inspired to create this Urban purse which I just love! I am a purse girl, so I love the fact that papercrafts can carry into purse design as well! You'll see that not only is this purse one for the fashionistas, but it's functional as well. It fits 4 to 6 of the standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cards and envelopes...and a Pen, too! For this particular purse, I used Sahara Sand and Kiwi Kiss cardstock and accented with the Urban Oasis Designer series Paper. Oh - and I can't leave out the fun corduroy buttons from the Occasions Mini Catalog! Here are a couple more pics...
The purse was made using an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of cardstock. Want the template? As promised, here it is - you can click on the picture to get a larger view.The purple template is for the purse and the blue one on the right is for the top note die that's used for the flap. Here are a couple tips for you:

*To trim the edges off of the purse, line up the corner of the paper on the 1" mark of your paper trimmer and the 4 3/4" crease along the cutting edge of the paper trimmer.
*For the top note die, score at 1/2" on either side of the center point on the longer side of the top note die.

The 2 outer pockets are made out of the scallop envelope die. I used the sticky strip adhesive to adhere the pockets as well as the top note purse flap. For the handle, I twisted 2 strands of the Basic Gray taffeta ribbon, wich I knotted through the top holes on the Top Note die that are finished off with Jumbo Eyelets. The holes are about 3/4" in from either side of the edge of the Top Note die. For the pen holder, , cut a 2 1/2" x 1 3/4" piece of cardstock. Score across the long side at 1/2" increments. Then, fold into a square shape and adhere with sticky strip. Use sticky strip to adhere to the center of the purse. I used the large flat cello bags (6"x8" which I trimmed down to 6"x4 1/2") to hold the cards and adhered this to the purse with sticky strip (when in doubt, sticky strip is the adhesive of choice!). Hope that makes sense.

Liz Miller's Purse card holder

Ok. So I've mentioned the purse card holder a few times since the Demonstrator event a week and a half ago. Well, today I'm gonna post a couple pictures of the purse that got my wheels turning! Liz Miller had a handful of purses on display and they were all just absolutely adorable. This one in particular caught my eye - it was just tooo cute!
Isn't this such a fun project?! What a great gift for Mother's Day or for a girlfriend's birthday! She'll be all set with cards and a pen inside to write notes or thank yous..or whatever she happens to be in the mood to write about! Now, you'll have to stay tuned another day to see my version(s) - I made a few sizes and a couple different styles of purses. I do have a purse (and shoe) fetish thing...I guess it's only natural that I'd be into the card version. It's only a matter of time before I figure out some way to incorporate some cute shoes into papercrafting projects too. I'll have to channel my inner Manolo or Jimmy Choo's :) But that's another time.

Time for Mojo 85

Hello there! I have to admit that for my Mojo card this week, I had a little bit of a creative block in terms of what color scheme and papers I wanted to use, so here is what I finally came up with after much deliberation. I decided to go with the Bella Bleu paper and use the Beautiful Butterflies Big Shot die. I wasn't sure if I'd be happy with the outcome, but I think I do like it afterall. I loved how the butterfly turned out in the pretty Bella Bleu paper. And, I thought the subdued colors were a nice change of pace. Hope you like it too!

Monday...already?!

Morning everyone! This weekend sure did fly by. We went to my sister-in-law's house in SLO this weekend for my niece's birthday, so it was a fun little getaway weekend, but it felt way too short! We drove back down the coast yesterday afternoon and enjoyed an awesome view of the beautful Pacific Ocean for most of the way down. The weather was pretty amazing too - clear and sunny and the temp ranged from the low 70s to the high 80s on our little journey home. Now, here we are already starting a new week.

I had a lot of fun reading everyone's comments from this past Freebie Friday giveaway and I have to say that I too am a big fan of UNO. Who knew that that little card game could be so fun! Apparently, many of you think so too :) Well, are you ready to find out who the Freebie Friday winner is? Freebie Friday 17 is here!

I'm excited to share my Freebie Friday 17 giveaway with you because it incorporates a couple of fun new ideas. First, let me show you what you can win:
Do you like it? It's the Bag with Scallop die in the Parisian Breeze Specialty Paper that has a little peek-a-boo window, using the Window Sheets from the Occasions Mini Catalog. A nifty thing to use to have the box easily re-sealable is to use a little piece of Velcro. Since the paper's nice and sturdy enough, it holds up well with repeated openings and closings. Now, let's talk about the flowers in the foreground - those sorta look like they're earrings, right...well they're actually MAGNETS! Isn't that fun? Corey Urey demonstrated using Magnet Sheets with the Big Shot dies at this past weekend's event, and I thought it was such a great idea! You can make all kinds of magnets with various flowers, butterflies, and any of the plethora of dies available to use on the Big Shot. I had a lot of fun making these and I hope you like them!

I married into a family that LOVES to play board games and I've come to really enjoy playing them too! So, over the years, my favorites have evolved. I'd have to say my current favorite is Taboo.
